    Dear friends,

As we gather to celebrate this Silver Jubilee Reunion, let us take a moment to reflect on our journey as healthcare professionals. Our demanding profession, though fulfilling, has often taken a toll on our physical and mental well-being. In recent years, we have witnessed the untimely loss of young doctors—friends, colleagues, and loved ones—reminding us of the fragility of life.

It is crucial for us to prioritize our health, something we often overlook in our dedication to others. Regular health check-ups are not just a necessity but a responsibility we owe to ourselves and our families. Equally important is nurturing our mental well-being. A cheerful and peaceful mind can be a powerful antidote to the stresses we face daily.

Let us pledge to find joy in the little things, spend quality time with our loved ones, and embrace hobbies that rejuvenate our spirits. Striking a balance between work and life is not a luxury—it’s a necessity.

As we celebrate this milestone, let’s take an oath to meet again in our Golden Jubilee Reunion, healthier, happier, and stronger as a family of healers and friends.

“To care for others, we must first care for ourselves. Happiness is not a destination; it is a way of life.”

Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the bonds we’ve forged. May the coming years bring us more strength, joy, and togetherness.

            Warm regards,

             Dipankar Naskar

    From Dr.Indranil Mallick

     Hi everyone,

I hope you all are doing well! As we’ve moved into our clinical practice phase, I thought it would be valuable for us to share our experiences and insights with each other.

Whether it’s challenges we’re facing, interesting cases we’ve encountered, or tips and tricks that have helped us navigate the clinical environment, I believe we can learn a lot from one another.

It might be helpful to set up a virtual meeting or even a group chat to facilitate these discussions. What do you all think? Let me know your thoughts, and if there’s interest, we can choose a time that works for everyone.

    – Truth be told, I still can’t believe it will be 25 years since we entered those hallowed gates of Medical College ! Since then, most of us have progressed far in life, both professionally and personally. During all these years for most of us it’s been difficult to meet-up due to professional & other circumstances. But I’m sure that regardless of distance all of us including me have felt happy in celebrating achievements of fellow batchmates, felt sadness for our losses, and sometimes bitter & disappointed when our views didn’t align with each other.

What I will always believe that there’s more to us than that ! As our world becomes increasingly geopolitically volatile & climate catastrophe looms large, I fear for the fate of our future generation.

For us & our descendents, I believe in the what “SAMWISE the Brave” said in “LORD OF THE RINGS :THE TWO TOWERS”

“That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”

Dr.Chandrashish Chakravarty:I hope this companionship will bring a breath of fresh air amidst the gloom prevailing in the medical profession.

    Dr.Chandrashish Chakravarty:All the best!

Dr.Rubik Ray:It is said that true friendships are formed when life is young and when there are no reasons. After that time, there are only colleagues , co-workers and acquaintances . I have found this to be wholly true. So cherish your old friends always. There is nothing better or purer.

    Dr.Shaktirupa Ballav :BONDHU , CHOL

    Dr.Sharmistha Daripa:Stay connected, stay united.

    Dr.Debashish Char দেখা হবে….

Dr.Arunava Chakraborty: I am eagerly waiting to meet you all”

Dr.Debarati Pathak:so happy to meet you all soon.

Dr.Shaswati Sengupta:Let`s connect – with family, friends, life & nature.

Dr.Vineet Agarwal:Dear Friends, Its amazing to think that it is 25 years since we joined our alma mater in 2000. We have shared so many memories from late night study sessions to fun gatherings, from politics to love. Our bond has only grown stronger over the years. Let’s cherish the memories and celebrate our achievements. Here’s to many more years of success and happiness together again.

Dr.Diptanshu Das Let’s stay in touch. Those words good always that we will always remember. It feels as if just a short duration back, and it seems unbelievable that almost quarter of a century has passed since our meeting each other for the first time. What?

    Dr.Biplab Tudu :Fir milenge

    Dr.Suhas Das-তোদের মিস করি

    Dr.Pradip Kr.Mandal –Keep in touch

Dr.Sandip Sardar: It’s an honor to see the incredible journeys we’ve all embarked upon since our time at CMC. Let’s continue to inspire and support each other in making a meaningful impact in healthcare and society.

  • 8 Steps to Start Your Life as a Medical Student the Right Way by Dr.Indranil Mallick

IF I CAN TURN  BACK  THE  CLOCK  &  IT’S 2000 AGAIN  WHAT  I  COULD  DO :

Reflecting on what I would do if I could turn back the clock to the year 2000 can be a great way to channel nostalgia into actionable insights for the present. Here are some suggestions based on that thought:
    1. Focus on Education and Skills:
Deepen My Medical Knowledge: Take advantage of the early years in medical school to build a strong foundation. Engage in study groups and seek mentors.
Learn New Technologies: Familiarize myself with emerging technologies in healthcare, like telemedicine and electronic health records.
    2. Cultivate Relationships:
Build Strong Networks: Strengthen friendships with classmates, professors, and health professionals. These connections can be invaluable throughout my career.
Join Clubs or Organizations: Get involved in extracurricular activities related to medicine, such as volunteering or medical societies.
    3. Prioritize Wellness:
Focus on Work-Life Balance: Establish healthy habits early on, prioritizing self-care, exercise, and mental health amidst a demanding schedule.
Explore Hobbies: Invest time in hobbies or interests outside of medicine to maintain a well-rounded perspective.
    4. Gain Practical Experience:
Seek Internships: Look for summer internships or volunteer positions in hospitals or clinics to gain hands-on experience.

Attend Workshops: Participate in workshops and CME , Medical conferences to expand my clinical knowledge & skills and meet like-minded individuals.

    5. Financial Planning:
Invest in my Future: Consider learning about financial literacy, investing, or student loan management.
    6. Travel and Explore:
Broaden my Horizons: If I have the opportunity, travel and experience different cultures & study history of medical practices in different population & correlation with traditional medical practices as well as explore their beliefs on so called medical “myths” . This can enhance my understanding of diverse patient perspectives in healthcare.
    7. Stay Informed :
Follow Medical Advances: Keep abreast of new discoveries, treatments, and medical literature to stay informed and inspired.
    8. Reflect and Reassess:
Evaluate My Goals Regularly: Reflect on my goals and aspirations frequently to ensure I’m staying true to my passion for medicine.

  • Reflections of a MBBS Time: A Tribute to the Enduring Spirit of CMC by Dr.Raj Kumar

As I think about our 25-year reunion, I feel a mix of emotions – nostalgia, gratitude, and warmth. I’m amazed by the accomplishments of my fellow batchmates and the incredible journey we’ve shared. The Medical College of Kolkata, the oldest in Asia (established in 1835), has been more than just an institution to us – it’s been a second home where we’ve grown, learned, and formed lifelong bonds.

Our college has been built on four pillars: Padhai-Likhai (studying and writing), Prem (love), Politics (Rajniti), and Practicals (highest scientific and clinical acumen). However, it’s the values of friendship, social responsibility, and cultural heritage that have truly defined our experience. I want to thank our batchmates, especially the organizers of this reunion, for their hard work and dedication.

I’ve written a poem to capture the essence of our time at CMC and to convey the sense of warmth, friendship, and togetherness that has been the hallmark of our journey. I reminisce about the Dissection Hall, practical classes, hostels, and love stories that blossomed within the college. I recall the vibrant atmosphere of the college canteen, cultural celebrations of Rhapsody, and the enduring legacy of our college.

Through this poem, I hope to evoke a sense of belonging and gratitude for the experiences and connections we’ve nurtured at CMC. It’s a tribute to the shared moments, laughter, tears, and strong bonds that have stood the test of time. As we celebrate our 25-year reunion, I hope this poem will remind us of the treasured memories we’ve created and the importance of cherishing and preserving them for generations to come.

    – Dr. Raj Kumar

    “CMC Millienum Batch Rhapsody”
    Memories of CMC stay
Forever in our hearts, come what may
Friendship and love, a lasting sway
Guiding us through life’s busy day

Dissection Hall, a place of awe
Where not only anatomy, different physiology and biochemistry we saw
Practical classes, a time to explore
And learn the secrets of the human core

Swarnomoyee, Main, BCRoy and all Hostels dear
Where laughter and tears, we held so near
Mixing of DayScholars/Hostellers echoes through time
A bond of friendship, forever divine

God made some amazing couples amongst close colleagues,
Some hearts broken, but got bonded with heavenly niche.
Love blossomed in the corridors of CMC,
A testament to the power of friendship and destiny.

College canteen, a hub of delight
Where adda and laughter, shone with all their might
    Rhapsody, a cultural feast
A celebration of life, in all its beast

Twenty-five years gone, yet memories remain
Of CMC, a legacy that will forever sustain
In our hearts, a witness to our past
A reminder of friendships, that will forever last

Moments we shared, laughter and tears
Forever etched, through all the passing years
The bonds we formed, the love we shared
A treasure trove of memories, that will forever be spared.
